And from the hard-work of tens of volunteers, a core group of motivated people and countless financial and moral supporters, the folks at Documentary Arts Asia set about building a brand new centre – brick by brick.
They raised twelve thousand dollars in a fundraising campaign that included my little contribution in the form of this film.
They made thousands of bricks on the land, where volunteers camped and lived in a microcosm of their own.
When you’re passing through Chiang Mai, be sure to visit the centre and have a good chat with the founder and director, Ryan Libre – we need a whole lot more people like him, carrying the artistic flame in places where it is most needed.
